Just Out On A Country Ride !

Days End !

Going, Going...
Almost......

Going...

Going....
Sun's Going Down....
The final minutes of November 19, 2010

A remnant of what was once a tract of land full of these giant white oaks....
Gum Leaves

Red Berries

Blue Sky

He's waiting on that wood pecker to come home....
Chicken Fly High- Chicken Fly Low- Chicken Fly By My House- Don't Fly No Mo !

I love this mixture of colors....
Another gum tree with bright red foilage...
This one's leaning, maybe that means bent....

I see a twisted tree. Is that the same as bent ?

...AND ANOTHER.....

An innocent victim of TDM....

Caney Lake Road

I love these fences.....

Now, The old folks say that they used to chew the sap from these sweet gum trees. You think they were yanking our chain ?

Gotcha !

Just Messin Around....

This pier gets heavily used all throughout the year by anglers from all over....

These new drain pipes were installed in 2006, and will allow the lake to be dropped eight feet....

As you can see , the upper end of the lake is completely drained....

These birds are on the old road bed that runs across the center of the lake. When the water drops a little more, you'll be able to see the bridge timbers where the gap is...

If there is water, somebody's gonna be fishing !

Stump Root from long ago....

South Shore

South pocket and Methodist Camp Road

The Boat Ramp out of water !
This is the gate valve where the water drains into Caney Creek. Looks to be about six foot down....
I drove by Caney Lake this evening  to see how low the water had gotten since they started draining the lake...
I thought that this beautiful oak would be a nice beginning photo for todays blog.....
Stop the truck ! You know how I love these Hickory's with their golden yellow leaves....
                                                             Same Tree- Different Angle
I'm saving the colored version of these twin pecan trees for a couple of more weeks. These are perhaps the most beautiful set of trees in all of Minden... Just wait, you'll see in a week or two......
I love the blazing glory of this tree, which I think is a Japanese Maple
And what's a country ride without crossing a few creeks ?
I can't seem to take a good picture of these wood ducks, but that's not going to keep me from trying.....
An Old Bridge over Crow Creek

Reminded me of an old song; Like A Bridge Over Troubled Water "
                                                               Kisatchie National Forest
                                                                            Kisatchie
                                                         Another Lazy Winding Creek
I just thought this old Oak was cool looking !
                                                                        Is This Better ?
                                                                    What you looking at ?
                                                                     I Love Old Barns !
Rustic, but Oh, the tales it could tell, if it could only talk....
                                                                        Playin around....
After thirty miles of blacktop highways and another thirty of gravel and dirt roads, we finally see a    willing subject, who patiently stands watching as a I start clicking away
...and continues in her frozen state until we are just a few yards away......... .
